As we’ve discussed in earlier Posts the move amongst motor manufacturers towards a direct-to-consumer relationship continues to grow. And it’s the shopping mall that seems to be the current focus of many manufacturer’s promotional and sales channel investments. We’ve already reported that the French PSA Group (Citroen and Peugeot) on buying the UK Vauxhall brand put all dealers on termination notices pending review. And, the move amongst several manufacturers to trial direct sales through digital channels, including Rockar mixing digital sales with a presence in selected retail spaces.
And it seems, ahead of September’s plate-change, this trend to mall ‘experiential selling’ continues with several more brands creating ‘pop-up’ or longer-term presence at busy shopping malls. Perhaps the most interesting, for now, is Rockar’s tie-up with Ford opening their new ‘store’ at Next’s flagship store in the Arndale Centre, Manchester earlier this month.
